Howdy! I am costumer in my late 40s that is into many genres and time periods, including a love for Doctor Who. I was first introduced to The Doctor by my mom (a serious fan of ALL things scifi) when the show was aired on PBS. My 1st Doctor was Pertwee and I remember being so scared of the Daleks that I'd hide. Now, I have to laugh at that.
My local costuming is done with a couple of local groups, not including the Order. I am the current Vice President of the DFW Costumers Guild and am a long-standing member of the DFW Cosplay Gallifrey group.
I am constantly wanting to try new things for costuming. Last year, I did my first prosthetic and this year I am discovering casting and using burn out chemicals on velvet.
In my real life career, I am a supply chain professional and student. I have been working in purchasing for over 10 years and I will be completing my BA in Supply Chain Management in the spring of 2015 and will be continuing on for my MA in Operations Management afterwards. My previous collegiate coursework was in Mass Communications (I couldn't decide what I wanted to do when I grew up).
As Chief Public Relations officer for the Order, I will assist in creating press releases with the Sectors and Outposts, and will answer queries made to the Order. Everything I do will be done to ensure that the Order is seen in a positive light.
As Chief Merchandise Officer, I will maintain a list of vendors, both approved and questionable and work to ensure that all involved are protected from slander. I will also maintain the list of Artizan members.
All of my tasks and responsibilities will be done with full transparency.
I occasionally accept costuming commissions for friends and family and hope to soon have castings of Clara's headchain from Robot of Sherwood available for purchase. Beyond these activities, there are no conflicts that will prevent me from taking on the office of Gold Usher. Thank you for considering me for the office.

Post by BankOfMom on 14 hours ago I would create and maintain a list of all other Doctor Who groups and reach out to them regularly about our activities. Promoting the Order to other groups could allow us to grow beyond the Sectors and Outposts we currently have.
I would reach out to those that make DW props and costuming regarding our membership and how to be on our approved vendor list.
These are just a few of my ideas.

2. There have been considerable concerns about the growing Whovian community compared to the relatively small number of Whovian centered events in the United States. What could you do as Gold Usher to get us involved with existing events, and how do you think you could help the Order with encouraging and perhaps creating new ones?
Existing events: I would work with the planners and build relationships with them. We should be requesting fan tables at all existing events to represent the Order. Our members should be encouraged to present content at events and should include their membership in the Order in their bios.
New events: There are many times when we'll find out about new events after the planning has already begun. I recently found out about TIME EDDY, a new convention in Wichita, KS. I am planning on attending and will be talking up the Order before and during. There is apparently a large Whovian population in that area that is untapped by us and it would be the perfect opportunity for a new Sector or Outpost. If possible, I'd like to check with the planner about getting us a fan table or possibly present a panel.
The creation of new events is a bit stickier. We had a new event pop up recently in the North Texas area. It was originally scheduled for November but has been postponed to an unknown future date. The planner has a bad reputation in the convention business though. We need to do due diligence and ensure we are not partnering with an event that may not happen. The other new Whovian convention in the North Texas area is sponsored by a group that has an excellent reputation.

3. Do you serve as an officer in any other costuming club? Please let us know your title/role and the name of the club. Do you feel there is a risk of any conflicts of interest, and if so, how would you deal with those if they arise?
I am currently the Vice President of the DFW Costumers Guild. The DFWCG is an all-inclusive costuming group but most of our events are historically based. My current duties involve the planning of our next costuming retreat. There is not a risk of any conflict of interest, mainly due to the large differences between the Order and the DFWCG. If any did arise, I would recluse myself from any decision making related to the other group and vice versa.

4. As many know, we have been approached about the DFW Whovian Costuming Club in regards to working together and a possible merger. The group rejected the idea as it seemed a huge step to take. What are your feelings on the matter, if any?
When this was first being discussed, I was hesitant to make many comments since I have been a long time member of DFW Cosplay Gallifrey but my thoughts would apply to any other local groups, no matter the location. I have absolutely no problem with working together with other local groups but believe that any mergers should to be taken in a case by case basis. The reason for that is varied. Other groups may not have the same level of transparency that the Order has. An example could be officers selected by a small group rather than the entire populace of a group, such as the Order has decided to do.
I have absolutely no problem with members of the Order being members of other local Whovian groups.
