I suppose a short introduction would be appropriate here, yes?
I started my Whovian fandom journey with the onset of the 2005 series, and have kept up with new Who from then on. I started dipping a toe into the cosplay aspect shortly before the 50th anniversary, and attended my first DW-themed con in 2015 (Gallifrey One). A few years ago, my best friend introduced me to Big Finish, so I've been slowly working my way backwards in the Doctor's timeline and the EU, and enjoying every second of it. I themed-out my previous and current motor scooters to look like the TARDIS, and I've been pleasantly surprised at how much amusement that seems to cause.
As far as being nominated for office here--I'll be honest. I have not held any similar position in any other group (nor have I belonged to another similar group). I do believe I have some skills that would come in handy, as well as passion to back them up.
One previous position I did hold was leader of a Girl Scout troop for about 4 years. Among other things, I had to work with many other leaders, higher-ups, and random people to help organize and coordinate events. While that was a much larger organization (not to mention older), I do feel my experience from it would help as a Bronze Usher for the Order. I love to see people gather with enthusiasm over a shared interest, and despite the sometimes difficult behind-the-scenes work that it takes to make it happen, I feel it's more than worth it for the result.
As far as passion goes, I can be pretty tenacious when the situation calls for it. I'm skilled with tracking down the right people who need to be contacted, and making sure whoever needs to be involved in a project is included. I have gotten myself hired on to muultiple projects in the past simply because I was enthusiastic enough that nobody wanted to turn me away.
I do realize there are times when the answer will be a firm "no" for whatever reason, but I will do my absolute darnedest to help the Order be represented as often as possible, whenever appropriate, and make sure all involved have a good time doing so. Even being turned down for one event, if handled properly, can lead to a positive relationship with the coordinators and possible inclusion for the future.
Feel free to toss questions at me from the Vortex!
