The Order of Gallifrey accepts all Doctor Who and Doctor Who related costumes. This includes costumes from the Doctor Who Television Series as produced and filmed by BBC from 1963 to the present date, the films, the various spinoff series (no matter how obscure), the costumes depicted or described in Doctor Who audio novels, novels, comics, video games, graphic novels, role playing games, and other assorted forms of media, and the images produced and/or staged for various costumes, such as the BBC Radio Times. The same applies to all props from the aforesaid materials. Essentially: if it's related in some way to Doctor Who, so long as you can prove the connection in some way, we can provide a home for your costume and/or your props.
At present, we strongly believe that the Whovian fan base is an accepting, warm, and welcoming group of costumers, prop builders, and enthusiasts. We reject the notion of "Elite Costuming" and we repudiate the idea that costuming should be limited to a select few. To that end, we will make it our mission to assist any member of this group with any questions, comments, or concerns they may have regarding the building of props or the construction of costumes, whether they be something very simple ("what's a good material to use for this frock coat?") to the very advanced ("can someone give me a layout of the proper wiring for a replica TARDIS Console for X Doctor?"") If we can't answer your questions, we'll do our very best to find someone who can, or at the very least, pool our various resources and try to help you find a way. To paraphrase a great man: If we cannot find a way, we will make one.
Costume Standards? Like most groups, we do have them, but they are still very new and still very much in the process of development. Our goal is to have a set of basic standards that any individual who wishes to join our group can follow in order to become a fully fledged costumer. That may mean "costume approvals" in the future, but our approval process will be done with the goal of INCLUSION first. We aren't here to reject you - merely to help you grow better as a costumer, and we will NEVER turn away someone who is willing to learn.
Custom costumes? We accept those as well. It's obviously quite hard to establish any standards or guidelines for such costumes, but instead, we ask one thing: if your custom costume is based upon the specific work of another individual, we just ask that you credit the individual from whom you've taken inspiration. Steve Ricks' was the first to do a purple Six, after all. It's only fair to give credit where credit is due.
What about props? The Order of Gallifrey accepts props of all kinds, from TARDII (TARDISes?) to K-9, and everything in between. Do you have a face of Boe that you actually intend to operate from inside, as in the program? Then great! Do you have a face of Boe that is remote controlled, or merely a static reproduction? That's good too. Daleks - can we count the ways? Got a Cyberman you've built but can't wear? Why not bring it and display it at our fan tables? Are you a builder of authentic sonic screwdrivers? Let us help you make people aware of your talent.
If you've got a prop, and you want a chance to show it off, then by all means, join us.
The Order of Gallifrey does not make any claim, nor imply copyright, in regards to any items or personalities, fictional or otherwise, owned by the BBC. We are merely fans who want to use our talents to meet other people, to have fun, and above all, to use our geek-fu to do genuine good for the society in which we live: just like the hero who has inspired so many of us since 1963....
